There was a time quit a few years ago when almost no one registered for wedding gifts, because the couple needed everything. Most people who were getting married were also leaving home for the first time and because they had never lived on their own, they didn’t really have any household goods to speak of.

This is no longer true, most couples getting married today have already been living away from their parents home, many times they already own their own home.

Registering for wedding gifts may be somewhat easier for couples who truly are in need of everything than for couples who are not, because they don’t really have to decide what they do need.

For couples who already are living on their own, it’s a good idea to sit down and think about the things that you already own and the things that you need before you arrive at the store to make your registry choices.

Every couple, regardless of their needs, should keep in mind the fact that your friends and family will have different budgets restraints and as such you should select both inexpensive as well as more expensive items to place on your registry.
