Beach Centerpieces for Weddings You Can Make Yourself
Generally, as long as your wedding centerpieces and other decor coordinate with the color scheme and suit the formality level of the wedding, a wide variety of wedding decorations will work at most any wedding.
Beach weddings however, are a little different. No matter how formal or how casual a beach wedding is it calls for wedding decorations that fit with a beach theme. If you have been looking for good ideas for beach centerpieces for weddings to highlight the tables at your reception, you might like the following idea.
This beach themed centerpiece idea can be handed off to someone who you pay to put them together, or you can save some money and do it yourself as they are very easy to make.
assortment of seashells
hot glue gun & glue
your choice of some type of clear glass vase, hurricane shade, fish bowl etc
candle
small amount of sand
The base can be as large or small as you want, we used a 12 inch pizza pan as a template.
Lay the pizza plate on the cardboard, trace around it and then cut along the line you traced.
Once you have your cardboard base cut out you will want to find the middle of the cardboard circle and center whatever you have chosen to use as the vase on the cardboard and trace around it as well.
You should now have a circle in the middle of your cardboard that shows you the area of the cardboard that will not be covered with seashells.
Now the fun begins, using a hot glue gun, begin to place seashells on the cardboard circle being careful not to put them in the area reserved for the glass vase. The first illustration shows how you will not put shells in the area for the vase.
We found it was easiest and looked the best to use larger sized shells to make a base layer covering the entire area. Once the base layer is complete, you can place smaller shells on top of the base layer to add interest and dimension.
The vase is situated in the center in the area marked not to be covered with shells. Place the candle inside and pour a little sand around it.
The bases for these lovely beachy looking centerpieces should be assembled ahead of time.
The day of the wedding add the vases, candles and sand to the seashell covered bases once they are placed on the tables.
I didn’t have any good close up photos of the centerpieces we made, so I hope the illustrations provided gives you the general idea.
Have fun and enjoy the compliments on your do it yourself beach centerpieces for your wedding.
